Day 01. Yogyakarta - Malang by train

The executive train by the name Bima departs at 00:52 and will arrive around 8 o'clock in the morning in Malang. Once in Malang a becak will bring you to Kampong Tourist, where you can have a refreshing welcome drink and you might want to refresh yourself as well before you take up the next part of your program. You can choose, either do a guided city tour on foot and get some experience in the Indonesian local kitchen (cooking class) or experience something new in an Muslim orphanage in a small village near Malang.

Day 02. Malang - Singgosari - Tea plantation Wonosari - Bromo

Around 11 am the car will be waiting for you. Via the famous temple Singgosari and the refreshing tea plantation Wonosari in Lawang, you will arrive in the afternoon in Cemara Lawang village with stunning views over the Bromo area. You will have time to explore the surroundings and watch the sunset or just enjoy your hotel.

Day 03. Bromo sunrise tour - Sempol village / Bondowoso city

You will be waken up early in the morning, to go to the viewpoint at Mt. Pananjakan, the highest viewpoint in the area. You can have a cup of coffee or tea in a local cafe before sunrise. Sunrises can be marvelous. Whether you are able to see the sunrise depends on the weather conditions. After sunrise, we will descend to the Sea of Sand, from where you start walking to Mt. Bromo to see its crater. When you have seen what you wish, we go back to the hotel to have breakfast. Then it is time to depart.
It takes around 5 to 6 hours hours to reach Sempol village at the Ijen Plateau. As you will drive via the Arak-Arak hill, you can have lunch (not included) at a spot with a view and you can stretch your legs a bit. Depending on the time of arrival, you can explore the surroundings or spend some leisure time in the hotel.

Day 04. Ijen trekking - Ketapang/Bali

At 05.00 o'clock in the morning you can have breakfast with coffee or tea, after which you depart to Paltuding. Paltuding is the point from where you start your walk to Ijen's crater. It takes about an hour to an hour and a half to trek the 3 kilometers to the top. Once at the edge of the crater you enjoy a scenic panorama. Besides, you can see a lot of sulphur miners with a load of around 80 kilograms on their shoulders. They walk several times up and down the rim to collect sulphur, before they descend to the sulphur weighing area near the parking lot. After you enjoyed the Ijen crater lake, there is still time to visit the sulphur factory where sulphur is purified and packed in the village Licin. Hereafter we drive you to the harbor, to catch the ferry to Bali. But, if you wish, we can also drop you somewhere in Bali.

Note: you could also take a day train to Malang on Day 1, but then you can't do a city tour or a tour to the orphanage.
