Day 01. Yogyakarta - Malang by train
Express Executive Bima train (departs at 23.51) will arrive around 8 o'clock in the morning in Malang. It will be - officially - a seven to eight hours ride. Once in Malang a becak will bring you to Kampong Tourist. Have a refreshing welcome drink and you might want to refresh yourself as well before you take up the next part of your program. You can choose, either do a guided city tour on foot and get some experience in the Indonesian local kitchen (cooking class) or experience something new in an Muslim orphanage in a small village near Malang.
Day 02. Malang - Singgosari - Tea plantation Wonosari - Bromo
Around 11 am the car will be waiting for you. Via the famous temple Singgosari and the refreshing tea plantation Wonosari in Lawang, you will arrive in the afternoon in Cemara Lawang. You will have time to explore the surroundings or just enjoy your hotel.
Day 03. Bromo sunrise - Ijen
You will be waken up early in the morning, to go to the viewpoint at Mt. Pananjakan, the highest viewpoint in the area. You can have a cup of coffee or tea in a local cafe before sunrise. Sunrises can be marvelous. Whether you are able to see the sunrise depends on the weather conditions. After sunrise, we will descend to the Sea of Sand, from where you start walking to Mt. Bromo to see its crater. When you have seen what you like, we go back to the hotel to have breakfast. Then it is time to depart. It takes around 4 hours to reach the well known beach Pasir Putih Beach. You can enjoy a barbecued fish for lunch (not included), or just stretch your legs. Then it is another 3 hours drive before we arrive at the Ijen Plateau to spend the night. Depending on the time of arrival, you can explore the surroundings or spend some leisure time in the hotel.
Day 04. Ijen trekking - Ketapang/Bali
At 05.00 o'clock in the morning you can have breakfast with coffee or tea, after which you depart to Paltuding. Paltuding is the point from where you start your walk to Ijen's crater. It takes about an hour to an hour and a half to trek the 3 kilometers to the top. Once at the edge of the crater you enjoy a scenic panorama. Besides, you can see a lot of sulphur miners with a load of around 80 kilograms on their shoulders. They walk several times up and down the rim to collect sulphur, before they descend to the sulphur weighing area near the parking lot. After you enjoyed the Ijen crater lake, there is still time to visit the sulphur factory where sulphur is purified and packed in the village Licin. Hereafter we drive you to the harbor, to catch the ferry to Bali. But, if you wish, we can also drop you somewhere in Bali.
