He will guide you up the mountain and into Ijen's crater.

Departing Sempol: if you choose to spend the night in Sempol, you will have to leave around 02.00 am to see the blue fire. Otherwise you will depart around 05.00 am. It takes 40 minutes to reach Paltuding.

Note: please note that the blue fire tour only suits those in a good condition.

Paltuding is the 'entrance' to the Ijen crater. Here you start your three kilometer hike to the Ijen crater. As the slopes are rather steep you will need defenitely more than one hour to get to the top. During day light that will be more than worth it: a scenic and colorful landscape.
Take your time to fully grasp your scenery and the environment. You will meet a lot of sulphur miners carrying loads as heavy as 80 kilograms on their shoulders. Once you are satisfied with what you see and experience, walk down the slopes back to your car. Don't forget to visit the sulphur weighing area just behind the parking lot.
After some local snack and coffee or tea, hop into your private car and depart for Cemara Lawang village near Mt. Bromo. You can have lunch in Pasir Putih village at the beach. After lunch you continue via Probolinggo to Cemara Lawang. The estimated time of arrival is seven o'clock in the evening.

Once back at the Jeep, you will go back to the hotel to have breakfast. Unfortunately time is passing too fast... it is time to bring you to Surabaya. You can either be dropped in your hotel or at the Juanda International Airport.
