Coffee plantation at the Ijen Plateau
Day 01. Bali (Sanur/Kuta/Denpasar) – Ijen area
You will be picked up at your hotel in the morning. It is a three hours drive to Gilimanuk. At Gilimanuk you take the ferry to Java. It takes about an hour to cross the Bali Strait. You will be waited for in Ketapang. Next on your trip is lunch at a seashore restaurant. After lunch, it is about another 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the Ijen Plateau. If you wish the spend the night in a standard or luxurious hotel on the southeastern slopes of the Ijen volcano, the drive will be a bit shorter (see the tab "Price" for more information about the hotels).
Day 02. Explore the Ijen area
After breakfast you will explore the area around the village Blawan and visit for example the strawberry garden and the coffee plantation, and the strawberry and the macadamia nuts home industry, waterfalls and the coffee factory. Whether the coffee factory is processing coffee beans depends on the season. It is also possible to do a "hike" near kawah Wurung. After a day of exploring, relax in a sulphuric hot spring. Naturally it is also possible to just enjoy your hotel and the area around it.
You will spend the night in the same hotel as on day 01.
Day 03. Ijen trekking – Ketapang/Bali
Departure southeastern slopes of Mt. Ijen: if you wish to see the blue fire you will have to wake up early. It will be around midnight when you will have to get dressed and ready. If you don't wish to see the blue fire, you will have to wake up at around 4 or 5 o'clock in the morning.
Departure Sempol - Catimor Home Stay: departure to see the blue fire is at around 2 o'clock in the morning. If you don't wish to see the blue fire, you will have to wake up at around 5 o'clock in the morning. Have some breakfast with coffee or tea before departing to Paltuding.
Paltuding is the 'entrance' to the Ijen crater lake. You probably need a little longer than 1 hour to hike the three kilometers to the top and the crater lake. Enjoy the sea of colors of Ijen crater lake while standing at the top; the red-brownish crater rim, the greenish lake and the yellow sulphur is an astonishing view. Besides, you can see a lot of sulphur miners carrying loads as heavy as 80 kilograms on their shoulders. After you have fully enjoyed Kawah Ijen, there still is time to visit the sulphur factory where sulphur is purified and packed, in Licin village. Then we drive you to the harbor, to catch the ferry to Bali.
We can drop you somewhere in Bali, additional costs will be applied.
Estimated time of arrival in Ketapang: around 12.00 noon
Estimated time of arrival in Bali (Denpasar): around 19.00 (Bali time is one hour ahead of Java time)
